This weekend was A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! What did we do you ask? Not much of anything - which is why it was so great! Our internet was up and down all weekend, which was fine because that meant more time scratching things off of our 'to do' list and less time attached to the internet. Here is a quick verbal recap - pics are coming...
FRIDAY - our first Friday where Tony didn't have to work so he caught up on his rest. Hannah came to get Addie, they went to Little Gym and then off to the park to get her wiggles out. Since Avery was sleeping in - I decided to go for a nice, 4 mile walk to clear my head and organize my thoughts. The last few nights I have been struggling to start snoozing because I am thinking about stuff that needs to get done. The weather was perfect for a walk, had the opportunity to catch up with a couple friends - miss you R & L! We also decided that this was going to be a diaper free weekend!!! That's right, no more dirty diaper blues and bring on the princess panties.
SATURDAY - we slept in until 8:00 am and then Addie woke me up to go watch "Mater" {a.k.a. CARS} so we made a little breakfast which included toast with peanut butter - EVERYTHING HAS TO HAVE PB on it!!! When Tony woke up he made his famous blueberry pancakes - yummy! We then did a thorough cleaning of our apartment - realizing that we have so much stuff! It makes a big difference when it is all put away. Addie had the ultimate-worst toddler tantrum to date. I think it was a combination of being scared of going woo woo and very sleepy. She did this move where it was part worm-dancing like they/we did in the 80's and part yoga downward-dog pose. Don't really know how else to describe it but it wasn't pretty! She ultimately ended up falling asleep on the potty - tough tantrum with a cute ending!
SUNDAY - Addie woke up around 4 am {I was pumping at the kitchen table} and she breezed right by me and went straight into our room saying "daddy." She crawled in bed on my side and totally stole my spot!!! So, I decided to go sleep in her room. May I say that it is SO incredibly bright in that front room! Tony came in to check on me - he finally realized I was missing - around 6:00 am. We all went back to bed and woke up around 9:00 am. It was so much fun being lazy! We watched movies, caught up on some laundry - so nice! After Addie woke up from her nap we decided to take the girls to the pool at the apartment complex. We got ourselves together and loaded up the radio flyer wagon and off we went. Addie is like a fish out of water... she was good to go as soon as she hit the pool. Avery on the other hand... well, it was her first time so of course she was a little hesitant. Before she went for her first dip in the pool I had to take pictures {I will find the cord to upload them, I promise}. It didn't help that the water was chilly {I can still see Addie's teeth chattering, but does she care? nope} So I took the pictures, put the camera in a dry spot and then went to other side of the pool where the sun was still shinning - thinking that it might be just a wee bit warmer over there. Was I right? Kinda, the water was warmer but there was a new issue - Avery is like her daddy and does NOT like the sun directly on her. So - we bobbed up and down {getting wet down to our belly button} a couple of times, but every time I switched arms and she wasn't clinging to my shoulder she was screaming! And then it was time to get out of the pool... She was a happy camper when we got her all dried off and in her little track suit. Addie and Tony stayed in the pool until they were all pruney. She had a ball when Tony would throw her up in the air and she'd go splashing into the water. We are very impressed with her swim skills because she always swims straight to the top and asks for more in clear ENGLISH!!!
We also discovered/deciphered a few of her new phrases:
"hold on"
"in a minute" with one finger slightly pointing {hmm... where oh where did she get that one???}
"zoot zoot" from Cinderella which means get going now!
Will sing the entire "open, shut them" song on her own, complete with hand motions
"owie" where she will point out if she is hurt, shows us what is hurt and then proceeds to kiss it herself and then say "all betters"
And to sum up our weekend potty training efforts - we have been quite successful with wee wee and still working on the woo woo...
