A friend introduced me to this website that shares all the fun family activities that go on in the bay area and in checking it out last week I stumbled upon this egg hunt done on the beach in Capitola, CA. I thought to myself - how many times in your lifetime do you get the opportunity to go on an Easter egg hunt on the beach... wait for it... still trying to think... oh yeah, like never! Tony went on egg hunts out on the farm and growing up our next door neighbors "helped" the Easter bunny hide the eggs... but never had either of us had the opportunity to have a hunt on the beach!
We went with our friends Joanne, Rob & there precious 'lil rabbit Kira {she's 18 months} and we all had such a great time! When we got there it was a little chaotic but there were these roped off areas where there were just tons and tons of eggs in the sand - there were two groups, one for the little bunnies and the other was for the more experienced rabbits who were 6 and older. Needless to say when the buzzer went off, Easter baskets went flying and kids went nuts gathering as many eggs as they could. Some followed the rules of 3 eggs per child while others hoarded the eggs only to put them back on the beach for the other kids. Kira and Addie found their eggs from a little girl who had like 20+ in her basket which was fine because we snagged the eggs and found our own spot of the beach to "find" the eggs over and over again so we could get pictures.
Here are the camera sweets...

Daddy with our little bunny, dressed warm for the occasion.
Me and my girls, I love the expression on both of their faces. I imagine the caption would read,
Avery: "geez, Mommy is making us pose for another photograph?"
Addie: "Little sister, you better get used to this. It's okay, at least we are in this together!"
bunny's first time on the beach
My sister Carleigh and her dear friend Mariah, they had so much fun playing with the girls.
Auntie Carleigh is explaining how the Easter egg hunt works and they are counting 1, 2, 3
love this photo!
bunny has boogies while in the bjorn, silly rabbit!
Here Addie is with Daddy who is all hooded up so he won't get a sunburn.
She kept saying, "look at this, it's a rock" and threw them into the little river that flowed to the ocean.
After the egg hunt and playing on the beach for an hour or so, we worked up an appetite. We went to this fabulous little spot right by the water called Paradise Beach Grille and the menu blew us away!!! I over-indulged and had my favorite breakfast of all time...Eggs Benedict!!! {don't worry, I pumped and dumped, it was TOTALLY worth it} Everyone else enjoyed their meals and if/when we ever head back to Capitola, we are SO going back to that little spot by the water. We decided after lunch that instead of rushing home right away we would take the scenic route up Highway 1 which follows along the coastline. It was a nice, peaceful drive and we all caught little cat-naps - except Tony, he was driving. We stopped at this one beach outside of Half Moon Bay where Addie and I created new game, found a cave with Auntie Carleigh and Mariah which was perfect for pictures and let Addie experience the beach by getting down and dirty!

This is a cute picture, her piggy-tails catch some major wind when she goes Addie speed!

This was our little game we made up. Cue the pink panther theme song... we would take one step at a time, inching our way up to the waves and if they get too close, we back peddle as fast as we can. She giggled so much!!!

Cool cave!
My sister was right, it kinda looks like the one from the movie Pete's Dragon!
Addie insisted on eating dirt, I guess a little wouldn't hurt too too bad?
It was such a wonderful day!!!
