WARNING... POTTY TRAINING POST

If you aren't interested in reading about the wee wee and woo woo of a toddler, feel free to stop here and move onto the next post. ;0)

Word to the wise, you have to have a sense of humor if you intend on tackling a milestone as important as potty training. I am the type of person who finds comfort in routine, a deadline, a plan, strategic steps to get from point A to point B.... well throw that all out the window sister because that is not Addie's style at all!

We have officially changed how we refer to #1 and #2 courtesy of the Elmo's Potty Time video. I am totally fine with referring to it as "wee wee" and "woo woo" because she not only knows what they are, but she WENT WEE WEE AND WOO WOO in the potty a couple of times tonight! As of now, the video and the book Everybody Poops are her favorites. If you have seen the movie Dan In Real Life, you are familiar with the book Everybody Poops. We would read the book and she would say each animal followed by "uck ie woo woo." It was precious!

It is funny because she is very very private about going to the potty. For example, I was in the bathroom with Addie when I heard Avery stirring in her cradle. I told Addie that I would be right back and when I left the bathroom I made sure the door was open just in case Addie got into something I could hear her. When I got back, she had gotten up off the potty to shut the door. She did this a couple of times which I found to be very entertaining. When you ask her if she needs help, she refuses at first, tries really really hard and then ultimately asks your help. She is quite the little independent one! There were a couple of times I heard her tooting, so instead of focusing on the woo woo, I tried to make it fun, it can be so boring in that bathroom {especially since I have no desire to redecorate it}. I started singing {completely off key} songs like "isty bitsy spider" or "a dream is a wish" from Cinderella. The singing totally distracted her and then all of a sudden we needed the air freshener!!! I am SO proud of my super big girl who puts her wee wee and woo woo in the potty!!!

Did I mention she did not wear a thread of clothing from 7:00 pm until she nearly fell asleep on the potty at 10:45 pm? I am to the point that whatever works, I will take it! {daddy was smart and ordered our very own carpet cleaner - A VERY WISE INVESTMENT!} Is it ok with me that she decided to change the scenery leaving the bathroom and take her potty in the living room... sure!  In fact, I even had to fight with her to put a diaper on (I am all for this potty training thing, but being that I am by myself I need my rest... we can tackle the overnight thing when daddy is home!}

YAY!!!

Her potty schedule/results from today:

wee wee/woo woo @ 7:45 pm

wee wee/woo woo @ 9:20 pm

wee wee accident @9:45 pm

wee wee @ 10:00 pm "I did it"

wee wee accident @ 10:45 pm "oh no, I'm uck-ie"

I am very proud of my dear Addie! She is growing up so fast...
