weekend update...

Best friends - here is a picture of my girls with my best friend (since 5th grade) Lisa who is in town from freezing Chicago for a work thing. She came in early to spend the weekend with us and we loved having her. Lisa is a kind, loving woman who always puts others first, ALWAYS! Lisa was such a great help to us this weekend and it was so great to have an extra set of hands.

She brought presents for the girls - cute dress up clothes for Addie and they just had a ball. They would sit at the little table and chairs and just chit chat using very expressive hand gestures.

Girls under the weather - my girls are still a little battling the end of this cold (the end is in sight, hooray!)  Of course that means lazy days with Addie picking out the kiddo "moo - mies" which is "movies" to the rest of us. When we aren't watching moo - mies, we were playing pretend. Here is a great shot of Dr. Addie giving Avery a little check up to make sure she is alight. It is so adorable... when Avery would cry, Addie comes over and says "ee's saaaad" and we reply, "yes Addie, baby Avery is sad." She then responds with a little pat on the head or the back saying "it will be okay" in Addie-ish.

Pedicure - When you are challenged with a very tired toddler who is just aching to go to bed and it is only 5:45 pm and she needs to stay up just one more hour, what do you do? Whip out the nail polish and start painting. Addie went from kinda cranky to downright happy doing girly girl stuff. She now has bright red toes and when she looks are her toes, she points them saying "Pee -tie!" We are still working on the "R" sound to make it an official "pretty." She stayed up until 6:45 so I thought we were in the clear for her to sleep in  just a little, however her internal alarm clock was ringing at 3 am Monday morning.

New Words: When they tell you that all of a sudden your child will just bust out an extensive vocabulary (with some fine tuning adjustments on proper pronunciation) they are 100% correct! Here are a few of Addie's new words/phrases we have noticed over the past week: butter * ready * poo poo * morning * hi mommy * water * tent *

when you ask her if she is ok, her response is "I's fine" and you say are you sure she says "I sur"

Funny tid bit - we were at dinner cleaning up to go home and Addie was playing in the diaper bag. She picked up one of Avery's clean  diapers, looked at it, grabbed her nose and said "P U, something's not right." It is very clear that she knows exactly what those pampers are used for.
