Today we are taking a big step forward for Addie and hosting a "juice party." (thanks for the title liz!) A "juice party" is a nice way of loading up on the liquids to encourage the potty training process.
We started it first thing this morning after getting her out of her pj's and into a pair of big girl panties. Boy, have we had an interesting day!
We drank our usual big girl milk, had some cereal and watched an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. About 30 minutes later we had an upset toddler who piddled through. We then tackled this as a team (so glad Tony is home!!!) and went into the bathroom, had her sit on her Elmo potty and then continue the normal bathroom ritual of wiping, flushing and washing our hands. She was really good about the whole thing... except for the getting wet part. We continued this process 5 additional times and happy to report we only had one real accident. What we did learn was exactly how Addie does the "pee-pee" dance. Because we could recognize that... the very next time Addie got up from the couch (after finishing more apple juice) we knew right away what she was doing and where we needed to be headed. Tony grabbed Addie, I had Avery and straight to the potty we went. Now, little miss Addie knows how to hold it because she fought it until we finished reading a potty book and had some more water. Tony even made up a little song to help her relax. After a couple of minutes... VICTORY!!!
We had successfully gone pee pee in the potty! Addie was thrilled to get her treat (yes- I am bribing with mini M&M's) and then finished her ritual. After she was all cleaned up, she curled up on the couch to watch Beauty & the Beast and take a nap (don't worry, she has pull-ups on since we saw the nap coming.) We are so very proud of our little piddler!
