thirty elephants...

that is what I accomplished today. Allow me to explain...

Did I finish the laundry? no

Did I make a grocery list for this week? no

Did I vacuum? no

Did I pick up the toys? no

no, no, no, and no...

I blew all of that off to go be a kid and play with my little red head. See, the whole family was taking a much needed nap this afternoon and when Addie woke up she came over to the couch where I was laying half awake saying "ous - ide." I told her that was a great idea! We picked out her socks and shoes and as we were putting them on she had another precious moment. I took her right foot and started to put her sock on, she said "bye toes." That made me smile, then when I put her shoe on she said, "bye sock." She is so adorable, I could just eat her up sometimes.

We were dressed and ready to go play in the Play Spot. When we got down there we did a little painting {Barbie has green hair with purple high-lights}, blew some bubbles where Addie used the phrase "Look at this, it's a bubble" and then we played with play dough.

side note: if you are stressed about anything, do yourself a favor... run to target and spend the $5 on a couple tubs of play dough... it makes a world of difference playing with this classic childhood icon!

The late Randy Pausch {his book The Last Lecture is a must read!!!} said that he would carry a crayon in his pocket because the smell took him right back to the care-free, stress-free time as a kid. Play dough is my crayon. We opened the tub of play dough and the smell took me right back to the 80's, playing in my mom's kindergarten room. Great memories in that Georgia O'Keeffe classroom!

We pulled out the green, the pink, and the blue play dough and just went to town. We rolled it into balls, made pancakes, and used cookie cutters. She picked out the "eff - ant" so we made pink ones, blue ones, and green ones. She handed the elephant cookie cutter over to me to start making them while she supervised. I think we have a future teacher or business manager on our hands because after awhile she got up to check on my productivity and gave me a pat on the back. I swear she said something that sounded like good job! So, this is where my 30 elephants comes in... it was so much fun getting to play, count {she can count to 13 now and will even count backwards from 6} and goof off with my brown-eyed-beauty.

PS. I know I am doing a lot of blogging today, so many moments to document...
