We got ourselves dressed and ready for our day...out the door by 9:30 am which is early for us! We headed to the airport to pick my mom up {she has the girls this weekend since we have a charity event in Tahoe} and as my mom is greeting the girls, Addie pipes up and says "Hi Grannie, where's Papa?" So cute! After we picked my mom up we headed straight to ballet class. Addie was good for most of the class, but towards the end... the temptation to play with the light switch was just too much to resist. She turned the light on and off, Miss Jane {teacher} did a great job of distracting her/bringing her back to the class activity but like a moth to a flame... that light switch kept calling her name.

light switch...
By now, Addie's light switch game was starting to bother another little girl in the dance class {her name is Carolynn} and she took the "mother-hen" approach and stopped Addie from playing with the switch herself - using whatever means necessary. I was standing next to this little girl's grandpa so we were color commentating while this scene played out. Carolynn, who is adamant about following the rules according to her grandpa, tried her hardest to keep Addie away from the light switch but our tenacious toddler kept at it {six or seven times}. In fact, at one point Addie is looking at me through the glass window and as I am saying no, she deliberately is doing the itsy bitsy spider up the wall to reach the light switch! This was the final straw for Carolynn... she came over to Addie and did a block move that basketball players do on the court and it bugged Addie a little but instead of reacting, Addie starting plotting her next move. Her grandpa made that comment, "Carolynn, you better watch out" and all I kept thinking was this is going to be the scene of the first toddler scuffle {Addie is significantly bigger than this little girl} and it is going to take place at ballet class where they are supposed to be angelic and graceful???
Well, there was no scuffle... just a strategic head-fake. To set the scene, the other ballerinas are playing with these number circles {jumping forwards and backwards, doing different dance moves using these number circles as props} and each little girl had one. Addie left her #12 circle and went over to the light switch one last time {little bunny foo foo, anyone?} and of course Carolynn followed. As Carolynn got to the light switch, Addie bolted the opposite direction leaving Carolynn alone at the light switch, headed for Carolynn's #10 circle, picked it up and started running around the dance room with a cackle of a giggle that was clearly saying "na na na na, sucker!" It was almost as if she stuck her tongue out at Carolynn but luckily we haven't learned that yet. The parents were entertained, Mom and I couldn't stop giggling {it was under our breath of course and we had to turn away from the window} and Carolynn's grandpa was sweet because he said that is what his little granddaughter gets for micromanaging. The rest of the day was low key. We grabbed some lunch and then came home for a relaxing afternoon. Both Addie and Avery fell asleep in the car, so once we got home it was nap time for everyone.
