Avery's christening...

Yesterday was a blessed day! We were so thankful to have friends and family come from all over to spend this special day with us. We woke up to a beautiful dusting of 3 inches of angelic, white snow that just lit up the farm (my sister thought the hay bails looked like frosted mini-wheats ha ha ha!) We made our way to church where we had to get Avery dressed in her christening gown. We used the same christening blanket that was made out of my wedding dress that Addie had used and we had her little bonnet made out of my dress as well. She looked like a little brunette angel with these bright blue eyes that stood out amongst all the white.

p.s. the lighting in the church was amazing!

We had Carleigh and Keli (both of our sisters) be Avery's sponsors and the pastor performed a very touching ceremony. After church, we all gathered in the church's new social hall where we treated ourselves to a tasty ham dinner. We visited with family and friends for a few hours - it was so nice getting to see everyone! Everyone took turns keeping up with Addie, she was on a diet of mini-Hershey chocolate bars and milk and she was such a good girl with Drew (her 1st cousin, Keli's son). He was a hoot! He is 100% boy, just full of personality. While they were running around the social hall having a ball, Avery was a little angel and loved being held by all the relatives. She only needed mommy when she was hungry (where the ladies were more than happy to giver her the bottle) or if she needed to be changed. Other than that, she slept and coo-ed in their arms all afternoon. The afternoon just flew by and as everyone started to make their way home (some had quite a drive) we packed up and headed back to the farm where we had leftovers (yummy, yummy!) and visited some more. Thank you to all who helped put this wonderful day together - it was such a special day that couldn't of happened without all of you!

Wow - what a great picture of Avery! So cute! I have never heard of using your wedding dress for the bonnet and blanket - that is a great idea!
