She did it! All dressed in watermelon with her jean jacket and backpack, my little red-head took her first big step towards scholastic bliss... oh wait, this is preschool! STILL, a huge step forward. I woke her up at 7:20 am, turned on Word World, she scarfed down her waffles {special day = special breakfast} and she drank her milk all the while I am putting on her sunscreen, doing her hair up in piggy tails, getting her shoes on, etc. Once I had her dressed it was time to wake up Avery {days of her sleeping in until 10:00 am are long over} and get her settled in her car seat. By the time Word World was over, I had both the girls dressed, fed & pictures taken of Addie {mini-standing ovation for me} and we were out the door at 7:52 am!!! Here is a picture from right before we left for preschool...

Once we got in the car, turned on the toddler tunes {"God said it, I believe it..." is Addie's favorite!} away we went to battle the much anticipated horrid CA traffic. But wait, we are HOV {High Occupancy Vehicle} so it was smooth sailing the whole way... in fact, we were even EARLY to preschool {mini-standing ovation for me, take two!} We met up with Erin and Mari out front, took a couple quick pics and then it was time for them to hit the ground running.

We walked in and were greeted by the teachers, signed the sign up sheet, then took the girls to their classroom to put away their things. Then, it was time to go outside to the play yard... I was so proud of both girls because they just walked outside, took one look at the Big Red Cars {travel here and we travel far, toot toot chugga - Wiggle lyrics} and away they went. I did get a hug and a kiss, so did Avery and then finally Addie shouted "Bye Mom," wave at us and she started playing with the other kids.

I admit, I teared up just a little because my baby girl is growing up so fast. I feel like yesterday she could hold her bottle on her own, then she started to walk, then talk and now preschool... that song by Kenny Chesney "Don't Blink" comes to mind.
What did I do to fill my time??? I went and ran errands with Erin. We went to the grocery store, post office, mall to buy/return a few things and before we knew it, it was time to pick up our girls! We chatted it up with the director of the preschool, she gave us the details on how the girls did and I am SO proud of both of them. I am so thankful that they had each other to lean on today! Addie heard my voice and I could here this "Oh Mommy" voice from her classroom. When she finally saw Avery and I she came over and gave us a Big Addie Bear hug. She didn't eat much of her lunch so we took it to go. I got the girls in the car, ready, set, drive... and what-do-you-know... Addie was asleep after only being in the car for less than a mile. She was so tuckered out... I just had to take this photo and if you look closely you can see drool...
