dress rehearsal...

Today was Addie's first dance rehearsal for her recital next week. Luckily, I had my dear friend Rachel with me and today is her birthday and she was gracious enough to be my second set of hands! She came over first because she thought we were going out to lunch but Addie and I planned a birthday/tea party picnic as a surprise. Avery helped too - she oversaw our hard work. Addie made Rachel a special birthday sign and then even decorated the cake {thank you Sharon Z. for sharing your famous recipe with us!} Addie is a big help in the kitchen - I have found that including her works so much better than trying to keep an eye on her! She rolled the cresent rolls, picked out the strawberry to go on the top of the cake and even colored her white table with crayon as a table cloth. It was hysterical!!!

To start, I thought we had to be at the convention center for the dress rehearsal by 1:00 pm so when we arrived at 1:35 I was a little panicked because I didn't see anyone else in a precious pink and black darling costume! We ran up to the front to talk to Addie's teacher only to find out we were early! This was great because Addie had to opportunity to see the other performances and she'd lean over and say "dancing, mom... dancing, cracker" meaning "nut-cracker." She loved it! Rachel helped me get the girls settled and then I realized I didn't have the camera. OH NO!!! I knew I packed it but it wasn't in the dance bag or the diaper bag... it was in the car!!! As I am trying to figure out the logistics on how to go back to the car with both of the girls Rachel stopped my mind from spinning and offered to go back and get the camera. I LOVE YOU RACHEL!!! Thank you so much Rachel!!! So, without further ado...

WARNING - if the movie "Blair Witch Project" made you queasy so will this. I guess you could say there is a reason why I take STILL photographs!

Practicing the grand finale...

Creative Dance with Miss Jane 2-3 year olds...

As I have mentioned in previous postings, Addie normally is on her own planet when the other girls are dancing to the routine. Today... so not the case! Maybe it had something to do with the audience or was it the fact that she was wearing new tap shoes that actually fit {such a bad mommy move... turns out Addie was wearing size 9 tap shoe when she is actually an 11 so I apologized to each toe individually!} but she danced her little heart out! So proud of you Addiebear!!!

The two fingers complete her costume...

Nicole I didn't mind helping AT ALL! After all the trouble you went through to make such a special birthday lunch for me it was the least I could do! Addie was so precious!!
