pioneer day...

Our beloved first graders have been studying Pioneers over the past few weeks
and to celebrate the end of their studies, they all dressed up as Pioneers!
They were so stinking cute, their outfits were precious and their imaginations ran wild!
They had to go to Pioneer school, do chores, make "hardtack," along with crafts,
play Pioneer games and had buffalo dogs for lunch!

A special thank you to Leigh Ann for being a true pioneer with these sugar cookies.

The whole event was put on by our amazing 1st grade teachers and so many
wonderful parents volunteered their time to help out!
I had the fortune of being Miss Sue Ellen, the Pioneer school teacher
and it was HILARIOUS!!!

Our Pioneers learned how to write using quills and ink instead of pencils,
they counted stones and documented their findings using tally marks
and finally they were quizzed on their spelling words.

I am so impressed by their knowledge and their little sense of wonder! Overall opinion from the informal poll, our little first graders are thankful they go to school now as opposed to back then!

A special thank you to Lisa for capturing our little Pioneer hard at work in the kitchen!

Now I have to be sure to give Tony credit too because he and our friend Larry were in charge of Pioneer games. They played "John Says" instead of Simon Says, hula hoop games, Red Rover, etc.
They had a lot of fun and I think all the parents who helped out today were just plain tuckered out!

Kudos to our loving 1st grade teachers who put their heart and souls into educating our little ones!!!

P.S. Pictures of Tony and Addison are coming soon, they are on his phone!
