Today's event has been about three months in the making... hearing things like "Mommy, can we have a tea party?" or "Mommy, is our tea party today? It's taking forever!!!" These comments were always followed by me telling the girls that the mommies need to pick a date or we have to wait until it's warm outside. Alas, the day was upon us and the girls sprang out of bed, jumping up and down cheering "TODAY IS OUR TEA PARTY!!! WHEN ARE OUR FRIENDS GOING TO GET HERE???"
Before I share pictures, I must say thank you to my AMAZING husband for all that he does, for going along with the girlie girlie things and for doing what is asked... even when he doesn't understand why! {i.e. "why do we need to move the hope chest out onto the lawn again?"}
Okay, so here's why...
What was great about the tea party is we used ALL the props from Avery's party!
The scary thing is, I had the rest of the stuff on hand!!!
The treats table...
the girls made the triangular flags using their favorite DOT paints
which I thought added a nice touch since they are the ones who planned the party!!!
Up close look at the PB&J finger sandwiches, strawberry spinach salad and tea!!!
we're painting the roses red, painting the roses red!!!
Once our guests arrived, they were asked to decorate their own tea cups using colored Sharpies!
My girls were thrilled yet confused at the opportunity to use these gems!
"Mommy, are you sure?" asked Avery at least twice!
They came out super cute...
and it was fun capturing pictures of the lil darlings sipping them!
After the tea cups were colored and before we started our official time for tea...
we needed to get a group picture!!
{side note: I have learned it is best to gather them before you let them eat... otherwise, good luck!!!}
Oh, I forgot to mention we had a special guest join us...
The Queen of Hearts herself!!!
{thank you Virginia, you are the best!!!}
It was important to capture individual shots of each kiddo and that became their "party favor."
And of course everyone wanted their picture taken with the Queen!!!
Avery's expression is so very sweet...
and then she says, "Mommy, I like the Queen" with her devious squished nose smile!
Oh Avery Lynn!!!
The Queen of Hearts with Alice
{her daughter Miss G is such a doll!!!}
Tea party picnic!!!
These girls loved the hats, the gloves and the pearls!!!
These little ladies know how to lunch!!!
While the big kids were painting the roses red,
the littles decided to give the game of croquet a go...
Needless to say they changed the game a little bit...
and decided that the heavier balls were better suited in their
Easter hats and that the bouncy ball went farther with the mallet!!!
This gets funnier the longer I look at it!!!
Julia you are such a gem, every time she used the mallet she'd kick her leg!!!
Meghan {her mom} and I were giggling up a storm!
Enjoying their time under the wonderland tent...
"Let's play pretend!"
And then when it was time to decorate our cookies...
we drew a crowd!!!
Thank you Tonya for helping with the assembly line process!!!
First decorate your dessert...
with lots of sprinkles...
then you can eat your dessert!!!
And then there are those who eat the sprinkles and leave the cookie!!!
I must confess... this tea party was so much fun to plan and plan and plan!!! I don't know who had more fun... the girls or me? This party is certainly going the be the first of many and I feel beyond blessed to be able to play and do all of these things for our girls. I so appreciate all the parents, their help, their kiddos and our time just relaxing in the AMAZING Phoenix weather!!!
And a special thank you to my darling husband, Tony! He even said this wasn't the playdate he thought we were hosting, it was like a super fun mini un-birthday party!!! Certainly fitting my dear husband and thank you for letting me create!!!
UPDATE: Avery's tongue is STILL red!!!
